Passive house in Menorca
This passive house with interior courtyards has been designed to maximize energy savings, using natural ventilation and sunlight to maintain a comfortable and efficient environment throughout the year.
Courtyards play a fundamental role in passive houses, significantly contributing to the energy efficiency and thermal comfort of the home. These open areas allow for natural cross-ventilation, helping to maintain a pleasant indoor temperature without the need for artificial climate control. In summer, courtyards facilitate the circulation of fresh air, while in winter they can act as solar collectors, using natural heat to warm interior spaces.
The design of this passive house in Menorca is based on the combination of a series of volumes arranged around a courtyard, the central core of the house and the organizer of interior spaces and circulation. The patio as a zen element, which transmits peace and tranquility to the house.
Starting from this base, a central green space was outlined open on one side, allowing the outside environment to invade and take over the house.
The horizontal extension of the roof shelters an exterior living room that cohabitates with the wooded environment and the sheet of water.
